Probiotics Reduce Gut InflammationProbiotics Reduce Stress Induced Gut Inflammation

Researchers from the University of Michigan have published a study showing how probiotics reduce stress induced gut inflammation, a condition which can lead to depression anxiety, indicating that probiotic supplements can be beneficial for depression anxiety recovery.

Although scientists were examining the effectiveness of using probiotics in treating Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), since 90% of individuals with IBS report depression anxiety symptoms, anything that improves IBS will help reduce their depression anxiety symptoms as well.  Strongly suggesting that probiotics may be useful in treating depression anxiety.

Researchers acknowledge the link between the gut and the brain in the first sentence of their study. “Stress alters brain-gut interactions and could exacerbate intestinal disorders, including irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).”
